Former Newark Mayor Sharpe James is guilty on all charges.
James will be sentenced in federal court on August 29.
James' co-defendant, Tamika Riley, was also found guilty on all counts.
Jurors reached the verdict this morning at the start of their sixth day of deliberations.
The trial started badly for James and got worse. The James indictment, actually a good read for graft buffs, can be read here.
Although I was obviously not privy to the jury's deliberations, my sense is that the case was sealed when the government showed Riley never would have been sold the land if she had not been having sex with James. The government also ably contradicted James' contention that the city council controlled land sales. While the council needed to formally approve the sales, the deals were made in the mayor's office.
